Below are a few questions people typically ask. If there’s something you’re not sure about and don’t see it below, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or cell and ask.

do you use low and no voc "green paint?"

Yes, I'm familiar with and use the latest most effective environmentally safe painting products and techniques. They're readily available in low or zero VOC "green" paints and coatings, and in this day and age, it's important to find a painting contractor who knows what products to use.

Are you able to do small wall repairs and retexturing?

Yes.

Whether it’s a few nail holes, or a full skim coat, creating a sound wall or ceiling surface is an important step in the painting process. I will repair cracks, holes from old picture hangers, nail pops, or door knob break thoroughs, ensuring the result is top notch.

I need help choosing colors. Can you help?

Absolutely, and for no additonal fee. Finding the perfect "right" color can be a daunting, frustrating and sometimes a costly endeavor. The color on a paint chip seldom looks the same once it's on your wall, in natural light or with various types of light, so it's best to look at colors at all times of day.

How do I know which "sheen" to choose?

We'll most likely paint your ceiling with a special non-reflective flat latex paint, and then use a Benjamin Moore regal wall satin paint. Front doors are typically either stained or finished with a high gloss oil paint.

Are you a lincensed contractor?

Yes, I've been a CA 33 licensed painting contractor for 24 years.

do you accept credit cards?

Yes, I accept all major credit cards and personal checks.

Do you remove wallpaper?

Yes. Wallpaper removal can be a difficult and tedious process requiring patience and skill. Often times you are removing paper that has been glued to the substrate for many years. If this is the case, one can expect damage to the sheetrock underneath no matter how careful the removal is. What you find underneath is often a mixed bag.

Primer before painting finish coats is necessary to seal out glue residue and properly seal sheet rock repairs. The wrong primer can result in blistering paints, streaks or films. A complex task that takes know how and experience to be sure.

Can you restore my weathered decking?

Yes. Wood decking is common throughout Marin, and I restore a handful each year. Whether you live on a hill in Novato or a coastal home in Bolinas, regular maintenance is needed to keep the wood bright and looking its best. Using pressure washers, cleaner/brighteners and sealers that I’ve developed will restore your deck back to it's original look and feel, without having to build an entirely new deck. Of course, every situation varies but this can be a signifant cost savings in the long run.

do you charge for estimates?

No. I'm more than happy to stop by to look at your project and offer a timely and accurate cost estimate for no charge.

Can you share any references?

Of course. Chances are high that I've worked on a home in your neighborhood, so with my client's perimission, I'm happy to share with you.

Do I need to hire someone else to fix small repairs, or is that something you can do before painting?

One of the most common requests I get is for light carpentry. I can replace a wood shingle or a fence picket that has rotted away or has been degraded by time. Small carpentry items are not a problem for Anthony that otherwise might slow the progress of your painting project.

Anthony paints and does handy work around our home and our rental unit in Sausalito. He started painting for us when I was pregnant with our first child, who is now in high school, and we can’t imagine using anyone else. ”
